I’m not to abroad with marine carpet and the way they may protect them. I would be surprised that this is anything new that the manufacturer is doing and would assume that they would have had many complaints about this. I know that there is a protective plastic that is used in our industry that comes in rolls and is tacky on one side. I’ve had experience with some leaving a tacky residue on the carpet and others not. The ones that had left a residue caused soiling problems but were corrected by a basic cleaning. Hope this helps.
