Depending on the type of material your upholstery is made of my have to do with the results you are achieving. The markers are washable from a hard surface. If it's a cotton material, that your upholstery is made of, than it can be very difficult to remove all of it without the proper stain remover and equipment to flush it out. I would seek the help from a professional.
